Players looking for a classic-style slot machine with a few new bells and whistles will love Quick Hit Super Wheel Wild Red slot machine. Bally mixes retro design with the fun of its modern bonus wheels.
The heart of the game is still matching sevens, cherries and jackpots, but the Super Wheel is ready to shake things up with its potential multipliers, wild spaces and free games. But how well does this slot machine mix new with old?
Bally’s design does a wonderful job mixing modern style with a retro look. The background is just a boring red logo-filled layer, but the machine itself is beautiful. The Super Wheel sits on top of the slots and slowly spins during the basic game. The combination looks like a jukebox out of an old diner or club.
The red and gold colors stand out, and the red tint along the edges of the reels creates a warm, neon-style glow without interfering with the symbols. The symbols themselves are standard cherries, bells, sevens and bars, with Quick Hit and bonus symbols added. They’re not particularly unique, but they’re easy to see with distinct borders and text. Overall, it’s just a great take on a retro style.
The sound design is competent and matches the visuals. There’s a standard jazzy soundtrack that matches the feel of an older casino. The bonus round has its own snappier version, which is a nice touch. The sound effects are a fairly typical mix of chimes, bells and horns. It’s nothing particularly exciting, but it does the job.

Quick Hit Wild Red has a fairly simple main game. The slot machine uses five reels and three rows. There are 30 paylines, and the player does not have the option to play fewer lines. Each spin also has feature fee which starts at 10 cents and grows with the total bet. As is common, the paylines have to form left to right. The only scatter payout available is on the Quick Hit spaces.
Getting three Quick Hit symbols anywhere on the reels will pay back the total bet on that spin. Getting more Quick Hit spaces in one game rewards higher payouts up to a jackpot of 1,500x the total bet for getting nine Quick Hit symbols on one spin.
Aside from the Quick Hit, the only other major variation in play on standard spins is the Wild Red space. The Wild Red is just a typical wild in the main game, which can stand in for any symbol except for the Quick Hit or the bonus wheel spaces.
On the whole, the game is fairly balanced between the main spins and the bonus features. The bells and cherries don’t pay out above break even, even for a set of five, but sets of four mixed sevens or multiplied bars will pay out a slight gain and sets of five are well rewarded. The occasional Quick Hit also serves as a nice bonus. While the wild spaces aren’t necessarily plentiful, they still show up to stack up some quick small wins to preserve the bankroll and let players hold out for a crack at the Super Wheel.
It shouldn’t be surprising that the Super Wheel is a big part of this machine. The bonus system offers a lot of ways to potentially hit a big win. Getting a bonus symbol on the second, third and fourth reels in one spin triggers the Super Wheel. The Super Wheel is just the start of the bonus round though. Spinning the wheel just determines which of the four bonus rounds players get to play. Each bonus game has its own set of rules.
There are two instant bonus rounds available. The Quick Hit instant game gives players a quick shot at the big jackpot. After landing on the Quick Hit space, the inner wheel will open and players can spin again. It will land on a number between five and nine and award the matching Quick Hit jackpot.
Similarly, the instant multiplier bonus space will open the inner wheel for a second spin that determines a multiplier between 3x and 25x. Once the multiplier is picked, the bonus symbols on the reels convert into wild spaces and the game pays out the new multiplied winnings.
While it’s possible to be unlucky with the wild placement, a string of wild spaces appearing on the second, third and fourth reels should at least set up some nice sets of three and four.
The Super Wheel also features a free games space. Landing on this pays the player their total bet back and triggers the inner wheel. Players will be awarded between eight and 20 free games, depending on where the inner wheel lands.
During the free games, the inner wheel stays active. Each free spin is accompanied by a spin of the bonus wheel to determine a 2x, 3x or 5x multiplier on any winnings for that pull. It is not possible to trigger the Super Wheel again during the free spins.
The final bonus space is the wild free games round. Just like the normal version, the inner wheel will spin and award between eight and 20 free games. Instead of a multiplier though, this version does a special twist with the Wild Red symbols.
At the start of the free spin round, the reels won’t have any wild spaces on them. Each free spin will trigger the inner wheel, which will decide whether to add 5, 10, 15 or 20 Wild Red spaces to the game. For clarity, these are added to the general reels. They only have the potential to appear.
The really exciting part is that once the Wild Reds are added, they stay on the reels for the rest of the free games round. As the free spins continue, players will start to see long streaks of wilds flash by and slowly turn the entire game to their advantage with the chance for a truly big payout at the end.
There’s a lot to like about Quick Hit Wild Red slot machine. As the name implies, it’s an interesting mashup of a lot of Bally’s popular features. The mix of new and old makes it a great general machine. The core gameplay is simple and old-fashioned, with just the right amount of chaos thrown in by the Super Wheel.
The RTP of 95.97 perent is also fairly close to similar machines, with only a small cost for the fun of the big wheel. The only negative is that it is a more general machine, and players may prefer one that’s more focused towards either simple slots or bonus features. It’s hard to imagine someone disliking this machine though.
